If you had a time machine, but could only use it once, how would you?

Interesting thought, by keep in mind that if you go back to save Lincoln or Lennon, you are stuck with any changes they cause in the present.

I know that I would either discover the whereabouts of the Ark of the Covenant, the treasure of King Solomon's Temple, Nazi gold/ plundered treasure, the Lost Dutchman's Mine, or the treasure of the Knight's Templar, if they exist.

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: The question behind the question is what is the highest end the use of this means could serve?

If national security was the issue, the traitor Mr. Francis Gary Powers plane could have been rigged to self destruct as he on oath had committed to do instead of safely landing it and not destroying the data, but handing the technology and data over to the russians. That would have significantly changed the nature of the current world.

If stopping aids was the goal then you could go back in time to the 70's and either pre-emptively innoculate, or otherwise stop the few people who were the root carriers of the disease.

If stopping the US was your goal, you could go back in time and sink the mayflower, or put a nuke in the buildings where the first continental congresses were held.

If stopping the soviets was your goal you could assasinate Lenins mother, or Khruschev, or something.

So what is the highest goal to be served?
According to what you would do it looks like "fortune and glory" are your personal definition of "the highest good".

what do you think?
