Question:

What symbol on the coat of arms relate to matariki?

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: Since this is your first question on Yahoo!Answers, I will try to explain why people probably have not answered your question in the 3 hours it has been posted.

First of all, this question appears here several times daily and it looks like those who generally give the response may have gotten tired of repeating themselves.

It is my understanding that coats of arms/family crests only exist for the person given the honor or I think in some cases, it is inherited from father to son only.

People will try to sell you coats of arms and they may look 'cool', but in reality are totally meaningless. Very few people can claim an actual coat of arms.

But, if you want to buy a coat of arms to put on a wall somewhere as a decoration, just do a search on the net and you will find all kinds of sites willing to sell you one. Or, you could do a search at Yahoo!Answers on the topic and find the former answers given. This question must have been asked./answered hundreds of time by now.

Serious genealogists understand the concept of a coat of arms and don't dwell on it. Now, if you want guidance in how to start researching your family tree or how to get past a 'brick wall' in a branch of your family research those kind of questions will probably garner more of a response.
