Question:

Please reccomend some good fantasy books besides Harry Potter?

Thanks.

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: Garth Nix's "Sabriel" trilogy is awesome- it's about a necromantic family who use their powers against necromancers who use their powers for evil. They are some of my favorite books ever, and go in this order: "Sabriel," "Lirael," "Abhorsen." If you're interested, he also wrote some short stories about their world in "Across the Wall." His "Keys to the Kingdom Series" is really good too, but it isn't finished yet. It's about a boy trying to take care of his home world and the Architect's world (The Architect is a god figure) and all of the weird things that he encounters and all the things he has to fight through. So far, there is "Mister Monday," "Grim Tuesday," "Drowned Wednesday," "Sir Thursday," and Lady Friday."
I also recommend the "Song in the Silence" trilogy by Elizabeth Kerner. It's about a girl who goes to a certain island to try and stop an evil guy from releasing demons that would destroy everything, and how she and a dragon make a deep and lasting friendship that helps them overcome obstacles. The books are: "Song in the Silence," "The Lesser Kindred," and "Redeeming the Lost."
There's also the "Lord of the Rings" books, which are good, but a bit overly descriptive for my liking. That's me though, read them if you'd like.
I've also heard that Philip Pullman's "His Dark Materials" trilogy is good, but I've never read them myself. They go in this order: "The Golden Compass," "The Subtle Knife," and "The Amber Spyglass."
Happy reading!
