Question:

Writing tips for fantasy?

I'm trying to write a fantasy novel, and I've got most of it planned out, but I would just like to know if anyone has any good tips for writing in this genre, or just any writing tips in general. It's greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: Read your first paragraph. Then read it again with this in your mind: Am I going too fast? Are there not enough details? Often we go to fast without realizing it, espiacally in the first chapter, and it will pop out at you. Make sure all of your important characters names can't be confused with anyone elses, you've described a lot of everything, but only in places when needed. Make sure you don't have "filler bits" between one main action point to the next.
So those are my personal tips, also try out http://www.writesf.com/00_course_outline... for lots (although its not focusing on fantasy). Also lots of authors webbys have GREAT tips on writing fantasy, espiacally Shannon Hale who has written 4 award winning fantasies. She has quite a few pages on how to write well. Her webby is: http://www.squeetus.com/stage/main.html.... Go to mincemeat->on writing. Look up some of your favorite fantasty authors online too, they probably have good webbys.
Good luck! :D :D :D :P
