Question:

What does it mean to "square off" while in battle, or a fight with many other people?

I'm reading a book and it said this line "She squared off to defend herself" What does this mean? I'm trying to get a good visual image of her fighting these other people but i'm not sure what "Squaring off" is....

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: It means to basically ready yourself to fight the other person. You know, put your feet in the right position, get your hands ready etc. To get yourself physically ready before the battle starts.
