Question:

American Revolution?

Can someone please give me an overview of the American Revolution please??

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: Started out with taxes that had to be paid for by the Americans for the Brits cost of the French and Indian War.

Americans resisted because they no say "taxation without representation."

The Brits then put pressure on the Colonials by trying different methods to collect taxes. This wasn't accepted by the Ameericans.

Unrest began to take place so the Brits sent troops. The troops were often quartered in the homes of the locals without their permission.

Samuel Adams, a real fire brand, began talking against the British.

As Brit troops took more and more onerous actions against the Americans the Americans began civil rebelliion. This led to more involvement by British troops. Which led to more civil unrest.

There were a series of confrations with the Brits.

The Brits led a force against Lexington and Concord where they felt a load of arms was located.

The Americans stood up to them. Fighting erupted.

There were a series of battles over a period of time with the Americans more often than not taking it on the chin.

Finally, after all these battles the Brits were defeated at the Battle of Yorktown and basically the war came to an end.

In 1783 the Treaty of Ghent was signed by all parties and American became an independent country.

There was more involved than this, but I am not about to write a book on this subject. I just mentioned a few of the highlights.
