Position:Home>Arts & Humanities> Jack the Ripper and Modern Forensic Science?Question: Jack the Ripper and Modern Forensic Science? If the arsenal of forensic investigative techniques used in crime detection today, including all the scientific and psychological resources (i.e. criminal profiling), had been available to Scotland Yard in 1888, would Jack the Ripper have been caught, or would he still have managed to elude capture? 1 week ago Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: 1 week ago Just for the record, I do not believe he would have been caught. He was extremely careful, and he stopped after Mary Kelly. Profilers today have a field day working on his profile, but they cannot get together on agreement on anything. Also, forensic evidence has its limits--it's fine if you have a good suspect, but useless if you don't. I have thought a lot about it, and considered his case in light of more modern killers like Ted Bundy and Gary Ridgeway. If either of them had stopped at a low number, they never would have been caught, either. I think Saucy Jack's identity will remain a mystery for the rest of time. |
