Story Ideas?

for the summer i have to write a page a day on any imagnative thing,like a story. it doesnt have to be continued every day,does any one have nay good ideas on what i can write on and not about love

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: I teach creative writing. There are lots of terrific books out there about getting ideas for writing. One of my favorites is a book called What If by Anne Bernays and Pamela Painter. You might look for it in the library.

You've received several really good tips already, and I especially like Taylor R's reminder that it doesn't have to be good. Just write!

Some things I like to do for my own writing:

1. Come up with an interesting title. Now write a story that suits that title.

2. Read the first page of another author's story. Now close the book and finish that story yourself.

3. Think of people who are really different, ideally people who would never choose to be together. Now tell the story about how they have to work together whether they like it or not.

4. Finally, think of something that you think is true about human nature. Do you think that you only discover who your best friends are when things are bad? Do you think that mean people's reasons for why they have to be mean are just excuses, and that they would be mean even if all their excuses were taken away? Then write a fable about animal characters that "proves" that your idea is true.
