I don't see soldiers as heroes, but if a particular soldier truly believes what he is doing is for the good of his people, and he believes what he is doing is right, then he is doing an Honorable thing by giving his life.

Despite the fact that he may be killing for an un-honorable reason set by the government.

To do what you truly believe to be right, to die for what you believe in is honorable.
