Question:

Isn't another name for morality based on the rule "might makes right", morality based onthe law of the jungle?

And what is the best reason for not living by that rule?

I believe Plato's Republic considered this Q, as have many Great Philosophers have since then.

Jk... i think its called tyranny.

Many prefer to avoid that kind of "morality" since it doesnt allow for any reasonable analyses to be made by ALL parties involved in a given moral situation, hence some of the parties may become exploited or used as a means to another party's ends. This contradicts one of the more widely accepted Kantian moral prescriptions, that ALL humans should be ends in themselves, and should NEVER be used as means, since this will cause "morality" itself to unravel.

The moral statuses of events under tyranny are always dependent on one person or group of persons who would use violence and aggression to attain moral supremacy. Hence we encourage brute force and oppression if we agree that "might makes right," creating a more violent world and supporting it by saying "this is the way things SHOULD be" when we call it "morally right."
