Question:

Lizabram......the phonetic surname as far as I know comes from?

my russian ancestors who emmigrated to this country (U.K.) late in the nineteenth centuary , I'm anctious to find out the meaning of that name, can anyone help?

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: The Russian alphabet has 32 characters so the name was undoubtedly changed. This is one time if your ancestor had immigrated to the U. S., the people at Ellis Island would have had to innovate the spelling.

FamilySearch.org and Ancestry.com do not have any information.

I am wondering if you don't have some Hebrew ancestors with the ending "abram."
There were frequently pograms in Russia and Jews had to take refuge in other countries.
