Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: considering evolution brought us out of the water, there is no way that evolution would put us back in. however if the world was to become completely covered by water (like in waterworld) then it could be a possibility for survival reasons. as it is though developing the ability to breathe underwater would be a de-evolution into an environment we came from instead of an evolution for an environment we are headed toward.
