Question:

My college has an excellent ballet course. Could that lead to a career in dance?

The really good college a few towns away is Texas Christian University. And, to what I've read, they have a very good ballet course. I read on their site that they're ballet course could lead to a career in dance. I was wondering if that could be true. I mean, yes, a some years of training is required, duh.

But ignoring everything else: Can a ballet program at this, or other universities lead to a dance career or is that a myth??

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: Well I think a career in dance requires talent, recognition and determination. Any dance program can result in a dance career.

TCU is a great school, but if you are an absolute beginner then your chances of becoming a professional dancer are less than someone who has been dancing all their life.

At the same time, if you've never danced before and you take their course - it may unlock some long dormant talent that with the teachings of TCU can develop that talent.

Honestly, I think it's worth taking a look at. I didn't start dancing until I was in college. I'm not quite a professional, but I never would be where I am today if it were for my college's dance program.

Good Luck
