Question:

Can i do both?

Is it possible to have a job(whatever it is) and write at home and try to publish them on the side.
I guess what i'm asking is "would it be hard to do both at the same time?" i'm looking into psychology and writing but i've hear writing doens't make a lot of money and takes a while to get out there and be succesful. so would having a career in psycholory( or anything) and writing books at the same time be possible and successful?

by the way I like to write fiction mystery novels. Mystery is my favorite genre i highly look up to Lilian Jackson Bruan(author of "The Cat Who" series. and Agatha Christie.
I might start off with children mystery books such as Nancy Drew. any info plz

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: It is definatly a possibilty. It's difficult, but it happens. I write poetry and intend on publishing on the side. If you are looking into this career as far as money, stick with Psychology. It pays more and you would have a steady income. Writing is mostly a freelance situation, even if you are writing novels.

If the writing doesn't kick off, enjoy yourself anyway! Writing is a gift. And if it doesn't work out right away, keep trying! Good luck!
