Question:

Can you use anonymous native icons as a part of your logo? and if yes can you trademark your logo with it?

I would appreciate if anyone can give me information about using anonymous native icons as a part of your branding i.e your logo and trademarking your logo with it? Thank you in advance.

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: I'm not a graphic designer or a lawyer and I don't know what you mean by 'native icon' - but I've noticed that the logo which my landlord (a big west London Housing Association), has recently come up with is very similar in form to a picture I've been sent as a free clip from Dover publications.

Dover publishes inexpensive books on a huge range of subjects, containing images that are royalty free (I don't work for them) - I think it would be worth looking through their catalogue to see if your 'native icon' had already been collected by them - in which case it would be safe to use / reproduce it.
