How are the suicidal impulses in Romeo & Juliet related to the overall theme of young love in the play??

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: Being in adolescence certainly speaks to not only the impulsive suicide attempts but also to how unstable and powerful hormones are in budding lovers.

One feature of adolescence is the instinct to prepare to "leave the nest." Which is exactly why so many adolescents are rebellious, it's part of nature. Combine that with another instinct, reproduction, and you've got dynamite. DENY anyone their natural desires and inbred tendencies and you will get like results.

It is not healthy to deny anyone to appease their natural tendencies. What one should aspire to when dealing with adolescents is to teach them how and why their bodies and minds are responding in such fashion and then teach them responsibility. Something that couldn't happen since the families had such an "adolescent" resentment in the first place.
