Question:

Before purchasing Wizard of Oz books, where should I look for illustrations?

Also, where can I find the correct order of antique plates?

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: If you are looking on line, there a few places that will show to you illustrations. One of the place is in the Flickr user group for illustrated vintage children books. This group have over 1000 members. You can use tags, to search for OZ books illustrations. Link is below

Another source with more detailed information about OZ books and illustrations can be found on my website

On my website, I placed OZ books by author and editions order. After you determine which book you would like to get additional information for, just click on the book and you will be presented with at least 20 photos including color illustrations. You can even watch a slide show with music in the background.

Determining Oz books editions is very complicated. I created additional documents in 2001 photo album, that can help with edition, pricing, official OZ titles, etc.

I also listed page numbers of position of color plates of each OZ book and included photos of each plate for references. Since plates in vintage OZ books were glued, they are often become loose and it is hard to determine where they belong. You can find this information and photos in 1999 album
