Question:

Does anyone understand the discrepancies (sp?) of page length between the HP 7 of US and UK?

I have an idea. Each length of the previous novels between the UK and US versions are fairly proportional, that's because the fonts, although different sizes and style in both versions, are matching in books 1, 2, 3, 4, and 6. The change in book 5 for both versions was that it was so long that both publishers decreased the font size very little so that it would use less pages; thus making the book page lengths still seem proportional. And for Book 7, I think that the US publishers left the font size consistent or regular with the same style and type of the all the books except the smaller type in 5, while the UK publishers decided to decrease the font size like in book 5 to use less pages and perhaps less money(?). That's my idea. Does that make sense? It doesn't really matter anyway, as we're all, including myself, can't wait for the book to come out and read it no matter how long it is!!!!!!! Anyway, what do you all think? Thanks!!!

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: U.S and U.K paper formats are different. A U.S trade paperback size is going to be shorter in length because the page sizes are larger.

The Font idea also is an explanation.

I doubt anyone is trying to save money on page count though as most paperback books are printed in Asia and are possibly the cheapest kinds of books to print. Furthermore JK Rowling is a bestselling author, there's no reason for a publisher to want to cut corners on her product.

Pages are also printed up in large forms, so you can't get rid of one page here or one page there, it would have be a four or an eight count.
