Question:

Who was the writer who wrote an essay and he had a chart documenting how he budgeted his time? Maybe Emerson?

I read and excerpt of an essay in tenth grade in English class but I forget the name of the essay and the name of the essay. I was thinking it was Ralph Waldo Emerson's "Self Reliance". In the abridged version that I read, there were some tables and charts with a detailed schedule for his day. I just read the complete version of "Self Reliance" and this is not included in the essay. So I'm not sure if I'm even thinking of the right essay or if maybe the tables and charts were only included in the abridged school book. The charts that the author made were to ensure that he spent his time efficiently and got the most out of each day.

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: It is 100 % Ben Franklin. It is from his Autobiography. You can make an interesting comparison with this to Jay Gatsby in The Great Gatsby. Jay does the same chart when he is younger and we find out about it at the end of the novel. Interesting to see how morals/values have changed.
