I seriously thought about putting Captain Vidal too! Darth Vader was also on my list -- choking people and shooting people who you don't like, and getting away with it, really does make you intimidating.

Arwen's story is pretty moving, but she's not really developed much as a *character* in the books (I'm including the appendix, of course).
