Do you know this book?

Cannot recall title of book. Story of young boy, 10 years old?, and his mother during WW2. They are refugees (Polish maybe) in the last days of the war. They are fleeing the Russians. They start off in a car and wind up traveling in a horse drawn wagon. Read it about 5 years ago and cannot recall title. They are trying to get to the American lines ahead of the Russians. Cannot remember anymore. It is not Stones In The Water.
