Question:

The Divine Comedy/ Dante's Inferno?

I wanted to read it, but is it worth it? I've been wanting to expand my knowledge of literature, and I thought this was a good place to start... And aren't they mostly Christian? I just don't want to read a book about Hell if that's all it's going to be about

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: Besides the religious element, the Divine Comedy was largely political, because it allowed Dante to place those he knew, and who had exiled him, into different layers of hell. If you do a little background reading on the historical aspects, you'll get a much fuller understanding of the work.
