Question:

History is it always cyclical?

I am curious if history even if watched is inevitabley repetative? Look at Rome and the United States

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: A muslim historian from the 14th century, named Ibn Kaldoun, theorized that all empires have lifespans, just as an organism does. He, using Rome as a model, felt that most nations will only last around 300 years, growing leveling out and stagnating and declining at a predictable rate. The only thing that would alleviate this was major social re-invigoration.

As to cyclical nature of history, I think it is an appearance of similarity, not a true cyclic trait of time or history.
