Question:

Why do you read other peoples poems?

Anyonyone who goes into the poetry section to read other peoples work, why do you do it. I usually read other peoples stuff and occasionly comment when I cant write and need inspiration. Just wondering what everyone else reads this stuff for.

I don't. Most people posting here need a lot, and I do mean A LOT of work. They need to read more, expand their skill sets and learn to take criticism. Almost all the good criticism (and there isn't much because people quickly realize it isn't worth it) goes unappreciated. The person posting the poem is merely rewarding ten points to the "answerer" who writes the best compliment. This helps no one really. And no one gets any better for it.

If you want to read other people's poetry, there are plenty of good magazines out there that publish poetry that has gone through at least one editing process before it is offered to readers.
