How do you dance with your hips!? Mental Strategies?

I swing dance twice weekly (4 hour dances) and I am quickly becoming quite the entertainer, but I am having trouble communications (if you will) with my hips. I know dancing is based from muscle memory, so what can I do to train my hips as a male and a lead. I'm moving into Salsa and the coordination is essential. Excercise and mental strategies are greatly appreciated.


Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: i really had trouble dancing with my hips and shaking my butt also, we guys are not used to shaking our butt a lot... i really reccomend you looking in the mirror, and just playing around with your hips....**** them to one side and then the other....also circle your hips a lot while sticking your butt out kinda like elvis....have a girl help you:).....its sounds crazy, but pretend you are a female model on the catwalk and pose lke them...pretend you are a character impersonating a woman or something, a bit weird, but thats how i learned to move my hips....pretty soon you will no be able to stop your butt and hips from moving cause once u learn it, it becomes second nature.... best of luck, it takes some time, but you have it in you:)
