Question:

Who were the parents of James Livingston who married Janet Cooper in Dunfermline May 1850?

James Livingston married Janet Cooper, daughter of Samuel Cooper and Mary Dick in May 1850. After their marriage they lived in St Ninians, Stirlingshire and they had their children, Mary, Janet, William, James, William, Margaret (Maggie and Samuel.

Janet Cooper died at the age of 36 in 1870 in St Ninians due to a malignant tumour of the throat. Her husband, James Livingston was not present at her death and the Death Certificate was signed by her brother, David Cooper.

A year after the death of their mother, Maggie and Samuel were in the Poor House at Dunfermline. In a later Census, Maggie and her brother, Samuel were staying with their sister, Janet in Dunfermline. A short time later Samuel married and Janet and William emigrated to Australia. James had married a girl from Banff and settled in Krkcaldy. (A Census showed them living at Heggies Wynd) with Maggie as a visitor.

The marriage papers do not show the parents of James Livingston who married Janet Cooper. Who were they?
