Is it possibleto improve acting skills?

my mom has always said
"you have to be born a great actor if you want to get far in the business" i really want to know if that's true or if your skills can improve.

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: Definatly. Join an acting class, that's what got me into acting. Then as times go by, audition for plays and you'll most likely get in if you work REALLY hard! The skills you can improve are

-Improv

-Projection

-Ethusiasim

-Speed

-Pronuniation

-Memorizing

-Angling yourself

-Getting into your character

-Much Much More!

Experience is the way to go. Audition every chance you get. Even if you don't get in, the audition is experience also!
