Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: Ideological: I would say a sense of individualism and independence beyond what is usually found in other wester societies. Optimism and the feeling that the worst has been left behind.

Physical: People with a truly diverse ethnic background. Now there are immigrants in Europe and Asia too, but a 100 years ago, where could you find someone that was quarter Native American, quarter German, quarter Irish and quarter Italian... that's right, only in America.
