What exactly is this question asking: "On what base do you claim your salvation?"
I am applying for a teaching position at a Christian school and this question is on the application, and I do not think I am understanding it correctly. What are your thoughts on what they're asking?

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: I think it's the point that they don't want to hire people who don't understand that question. If you had a background in Christianity (which is what they want) then you would understand the question just fine. I don't think you're going to get along well at a school that doesn't want you teaching there by virtue of your lack of philosophical agreement with them. It's clear from their application that they are looking for serious Christians who can back up their philosophy with well-engrained religious teaching. Don't underestimate the importance of this either. I personally know people who have gotten teachers from Christian schools fired because it was revealed that the teacher was not truly Christian (i.e. saying things to the students that were essentially anti-Christian, or perceived as such). This may seem like discrimination, however, in the eyes of the law it isn't.
