I'm writing a book and need to know. Right now it's 18 computer pages long. I want to get it published but am completely confused at how many pages I need to type to get a descent amount of pages in a paper back book.

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: publishers usually work on a by word process not a by page. That's because the page number will depend on the size of the book. Some publishers start in hard covers first..... which are 8x10 .. Sometimes, but sometimes smaller than even paperback. Or you can go trade paperback, or mass market.

The short answer to your question is, try setting your margins on your word processor. that should give you an idea. But the true answer is it really depends on the size of the book your publisher wants to make.
