Question:

I play guitar and now I cant?

I have been playing guitar for over 20 years now. It is my passion. Two years ago I bought an Ibanez Road Master for $2500. I have only picked it up twice. Two years later I sill have no desire to play. Why do you think that is

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: I've been going through the same thing for the last three months. I had went out and bought a new classical guitar, and while I was there decided to also buy an acoustic, so I came home happy as can be, and I think I played for about a week, and haven't touch them since. Playing has also been my passion since I was about nine years old. I use to practice eight hours a day, somethimes I even set my alarm for four in the morning so I could get in a couple hours before work, I've played for over thirty five years and never had this before, that's why I'm so concerned. I do have a disk problem in my neck that does give me a lot of left hand pain, but I still always tried to play at least twenty minutes a day. Lately I just can't figure it out, I keep saying to myself I'll start playing tomorrow, but I haven't. I've been driving myself crazy trying to figure this out, and the conclusion I came to is it must be something like writers block, or how many times have you heard of artist that just stopped painting for a while. I'm sure it's just a thing to do with hormones or some kind of chemistry thing. I'm going to force myself tomorrow to start playing just a little every day and see if my desire comes back, hopefully it's just a temporary thing, I hope it is for you as well. I'm glad I answered your question because now I know this happens to other people and I don't feel like I'm alone in this. P.S. Someone told me it could be a form or depression because of my neck and hand problem, and in my subconscious I'm depressed without realizing it. I'm wondering if that's it. Have you had something bothering you health or otherwise ?
