Question:

Are the Meisner, Stella Adler, and Strasburg techniques of acting pretty much one in the same?

With some minor differences? I really need to know b/c I want to study Method acting and I need to find the right school in the San Fernando Valley. Were all these teachers and their schools part of the Method? Thanks all!! ; )

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: All of these teachers are offshoots of the Stanislavsky Method. Out of the three you mentioned, Stella Adler remained most aligned with Stanislavsky. Meisner uses a lot of interesting techniques to bring out simplicity and honesty in acting. Strasburg's method uses a lot of the actor's personal baggage which can become a little self-indulgent. Your best bet is going to be sitting in on a class at each studio. This will help you ascertain where you're going to fit in best but I do agree that learning as much about all methods will only serve you well as an actor.
