Has Mahatma Gandhi ever been nominated for Nobel Peace Prize, If yes, how many times? ink?

is it not strange that one of the best propents of peace in modern history has not been awarded the peace prize? Has the awards committe been using a different yard stick for him? Can somebody please explain this anomly.

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: Nominated five times between 1937 and 1948 (1937, 1938, 1939, 1947 and 1948) but never received the Nobel Peace Prize. The committee regrets not having awarded it to him. He would have received it in 1948 but he was killed. Nationalistic differences on the committee are often cited as the reason why he was not awarded the prize.
