Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: I'm not as enthusiastic about this Harry Potter film. I read the book, and it is a darker side to it. But then, I never thot that the whole series would become so serious either.

I think this new film will turn out to be like the 2nd Star WArs film, or the middle "Back to the Future" film, good to keep the story going, but not that enjoyed.
It just has a different attitude about it, with Harry Potter having to hide out, rather than be up front and engaged in his good cause. Especially when evil seems to have gotten ahead and is controlling so much more than before.

It's also tough for the kid actors, who are now young adults. I think we've enjoyed learning, reading, savoring Harry Potter's youth, growth in his magic arts, and relished sharing those learning experiences with him. But now that he's becoming an adult, he's gaining adult tones and seriousness. I think when his friend died in "Goblet" during the test, I think that truly catapulted Harry into adulthood, and the seriousness of his fight against evil.

When the first Harry Potter movie was being planned, I was surprised by all the crying about it being witchcraft, trying to turn our kids evil with its message. But when the first movie came out, I was astonished at the true message it gave us. That there is good and evil. That good needs to fight evil. That evil can be defeated. And especially, when his redheaded friend offers his own life during the chessgame so that Harry can continue to fight the battle, that is an INCREDIBLE example to teach our youth. That sacrifice of one's self is honorable and righteous, and a greatest gift one can give in a just cause. With so much of today's youth immersed in advertising selfishness, it's astounding that a message as clear and determined could gain such a huge following in the whole world.

That shows that the "family values" so often laughed at are indeed real, and are indeed sought after by the normal person in life. Honor, truthfulness, love of one''s fellows are NOT old, are NOT failed attitudes, ARE wanted by the general public desperately searching for such Truth. It is generally the "enlightened", the "famous", the self-important people who laugh at such attitudes, and the people who believe in them.

And Harry Potter brings those characteristics out in us, as we share in his wonderous life.

Dumbledor's and Hagrid's faith in each other and love for each other is part of those ideals and beliefs that we search for in our own lives. It is hard indeed to find someone as faithful and as trusting a friendship as they have. But then, Harry has that with his 2 friends also, once they get thru the petty bickering and insane teenage jealousies, which I hate!!

But Harry Potter is a great example of leadership, honesty, and values of mankind which we rarely find today, in print or in real people.
