Question:

Do people today still live according to a planned life list or did our busy society force us to just be??

Lately i have been asking around, trying to find out if people still have a list of life long dreams and achievements. I wondered if people still live for that or are we too busy to want good things for ourselves and just focus on getting by every day.

I was shocked to find out that not a lot of people know what they want or what they life for...they just "are". So,i'm asking, do you have a life list and if you do, what are the eleven things you want to accomplish (even just trying a new meal or vacation destination) before you die??? :-)

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: Sure many people still have "dreams, hopes, wishes, and desires," but the high-tech, fast-paced, globalizing, consumerist society tells us that we must, "Go, go, go! Do, do, do! Work, work, work! plan for retirement; take pharmaceuticals to further feed the corporate greed machine which is raping the planet and everyone in it of our humanity and sanity..." but who says we have to conform to society's ideas??? (Oh yeah, almost forgot... SOCIETY!) LOL!
Ultimately, I think it depends on who you are; personal development; character... there are many people who live life according to their own being, but of course society labels them all on the outskirts of the "norm."
As Joseph Campbell said, "Follow your bliss! There's something inside which knows when you're on the beam, and knows when you're off the beam. And if you get off the beam to make money, you've lost your life."
Finally, it's not that society has "forced us to just BE." There is none of that! Society has forced us to DO!
