Enough with the Puritans! Do you think the impact that the Puritans had on our country is VASTLY overrated?

I get so tired of reading aboubt that x,y, or z was becasue of America's Puritan beliefs. Does anyone ever bother to look and see the geographic limits of Puritanism or for how long it existed? I think the main cause of this is the pilgrim story that is taught in elementary school. The Pilgrim story is a quick fix for teaching eary american history. I live in the east and in my area there has NEVER been any Puritans for hundreds of miles at any time....ever! LOL sorry had to rant.

These are the perceived effects of Puritanism true...but if this theory was true today one bould think the Northeast should be vastly conservative and the southeast (nary a Puritan ever in sight) wildly liberal.

Americans work too much?....hmm a few years ago I thought we were all supposed to be fat and lazy...I guess there was a brief resurgence of Puritanism
