Does this sound like an original story plot?

In the midst of a dying world, the Royal Empire and the Legion have been warring ever since the fall of the Old Kingdom. Ardan had lived his life as a farm boy in the Royal Empire, and for his whole life, had never known either his mother or father; he lives with his uncle and aunt. But when he stumbles upon an old recluse, he goes home with him, knowing he is a friend of his Uncle.
There, he asks aArdan about magic and fighting. Ardan is very curious about it, and the recluse says, Ardan, you are very much like your father.
Ardan asks if he knew his father, and he says yes. He is becoming of age, and he should know, even if his Uncle wouldn't allow it. He tells Ardan that his father was a good man, and a good friend.
Afterwards, their small town is attacked by Imperial soldiers. when he finds out that his family had died, he is heartbroken, and returns to the recluse. The hermit gives Ardan a long, silver sword.

When Ardan asks what it's for, the hermit says it was your father's sword. Then he tells Ardan that he is son of the old king, who was betrayed and murdered by a knight, named Dalzanor, who is now King of the Royal Empire.
He tells Ardan that when he was still an infant, the castle was attacked, and that he, the recluse, was one of the kings friends and a knight to him, and that he was ordered to take Ardan to the small town with his Uncle and Aunt.
Ardan realizes that there is nothing left for him here, and sets out with the recluse to join sides with the Legion, and restore honor to the rightful throne, in order to avenge his father and set justive to all the lands.
